Firefighters have been dealing with a fire near an abandoned golf club in Preston.

Black smoke was seen billowing from a building close to the former Fishwick Hall Golf Club off Glenluce Drive.

The club and course closed in November last year.

The fire is understood to have begun in a maintenance shed shortly before 2pm on Wednesday (10 April).

Blog Preston has contacted Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service for more information.

A spokeswoman for the fire service said: “Two fire crews from Preston attended a fire at a garage in Merrick Avenue.

“The garage contained a diesel tank.

“The building was well alight when firefighters arrived at the scene but was quickly brought under control.

“Fire crews remained at the scene for around an hour and 45 minutes.”

No cause has been given for the fire.
