Preston’s annual Easter Egg rolling drew record-breaking crowds for modern times.
With temperatures of up to 26 degrees it was a case of chasing melting chocolate eggs down the hill at Avenham Park.
Preston City Council say it is estimated 35,000 people attended the event.
This compares with between 5,000-8,000 last year, when bad weather led to only hardcore egg rollers taking part.
Previous high attendances have been up to 25,000 people.
Mayor of Preston councillor Trevor Hart attended this year’s egg rolling.
He said: “What a glorious day for another fantastic egg rolling event!
“Thousands of people made the traditional trek to Avenham and Miller parks for the annual rolling of eggs. But, as always, it was so much more than that. From activities to join in with to performances to watch, everyone had a brilliant time – including me on the trapeze swing! If only we could guarantee the sunshine every Easter Monday.
“I’d like to thank everyone involved for all their hard work in putting the event together, plus the clear up afterwards.”
Avenham Park saw live performances by CBeebies favourites Hook and Line, stars of Swashbuckle, as well as the BBC Introducing stage.
