Arson investigation underway after fire in Avenham

Firefighters were called to the blaze in Avenham Road

Police have launched an investigation after a fire at a flat in Avenham last night.


Fire crews were called to reports of a blaze in the doorway of a ground floor property in Avenham Road, shortly after 2am.

A number of neighbouring properties were evacuated while firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus and a hose reel, tackled the blaze.

Investigators said the fire was suspicious and called in the police.
