An abandoned golf club building was targeted by arsonists during the early hours of Thursday.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service sent four crews to the former Ingol Village Golf site off Tanterton Hall Road.

The fire began around 2am on Thursday (11 April).

Crews from Fulwood, Penwortham and Preston found a window and boarding alight at the single-storey building.

A spokesman for the fire service said: “The fire is believed to have been started deliberately and a full investigation alongside colleagues from the Police is now underway.”

Firefighters were at the scene for around 1 hour and 20 minutes.

The former Ingol Village Golf course off Tanterton Hall Road has been subject to a number of planning applications for housing developments over the years.
