Police continue patrols in Fishwick but halt stop and search

Police have now stopped their stop and search zone across a part of the city.

Following the stabbing of a 14-year-old boy in Fishwick on Sunday night a Section 60 order was put in force.

This saw Preston Police stop and search 165 people and 34 vehicles across Fishwick, St Matthews and parts of Deepdale and Ribbleton.

A Section 60 was in place overnight on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 6pm to 6am.

PC Mike Simpson spoke on a video on the Preston Police Facebook page, he and a colleague were on foot patrol during Thursday afternoon.

He said: “We’ve been out a couple of units at a time dedicated to being out on Fishwick and Callon to make sure the community can see us and feel safe.

“When an incident happens of the nature that happened the other night it’s important for the community to know we’re still here.”

Three men were arrested in connection with the stabbing of the teenager in Samuel Street which took place late on Sunday night.
