Motorists who use a busy road in Fulwood are being warned of disruption.
A section of Watling Street Road is to close during the day-time.
Lancashire County Council is carrying out major resurfacing work as the junction with Sharoe Green Lane has detoriated.
The road closure will be 84 metres west of Sharoe Green Lane, in Watling Street Road, and 150 metres to the eastern section.
Motorists have been told to expect ‘major disruption’.

Closures will be in place between 8am to 5pm on Tuesday 5 February, Wednesday 6 February and Thursday 7 February.
The work was due to take place between 8 February and 12 February but has been brought forward.
Work to repair the road surface, which is ridden with potholes, is from the county council’s pothole deterioration fund.
Preston Bus has confirmed details of their diversions for the 19 service.
Outbound from Preston, normal route to Deepdale Road, then via Blackpool Road, Garstang Road, Watling Street Road, left onto Bhailok Square and through the business centre, exiting onto Sharoe Green Lane and continuing normal route to RPH.
Inbound to Preston, reverse of above.
There are likely to be delays to service due to the diversion
Service 19A (shuttlebus) will turn round in the business centre grounds.
School services and 119 will not be affected.
