A car has burst into flames at a busy Preston junction.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service were called to Lane Ends shortly after 6.15pm on Friday (8 February).

Drinkers in the Lane Ends pub saw flames leap from the vehicle which has been engulfed by fire.

Delays are being reported on the eastbound side of Blackpool Road as fire crews tackle the incident.

Westbound traffic is still moving.

Lancs Live is reporting the car is a blue BMW.

No one was hurt in the fire.

A spokeswoman for the fire service said: “A crew from Penwortham attended a vehicle which was well alight in Blackpool Road.

“Crews used two hose reels and foam to extinguish the fire and closed off the road as they dealt with the incident.”
