Rosie’s front doorstep in Whitmore Place

The community came together to say goodbye to Rosie Darbyshire outside her home in Ribbleton this evening.

A memorial celebration, arranged by Rosie’s best friend Denni Hartley, saw Whitmoe Place in Moor Nook filled with friends and neighbours releasing balloons, sky lanterns and lighting candles in memory of Rosie, who died on Thursday.

Rosie’s mum and son Oliver, 9, attended the memorial to see the sky filled with balloons and an outpouring of love for the popular mum-of-one.

Denni said: “It’s so beautiful how many people have turned out tonight. Rosie would have absolutely loved it.”

Several people carried unicorn balloons to remember ‘colourful’ Rosie – who was obsessed with the mythical creatures.

Sky lanterns in the shape of hearts, and carrying messages to Rosie, were released into the night.

Denni said: “It’s just amazing. It’s so special.”
