A Preston-based recruitment firm has completed a huge office expansion and renovation – complete with a roof terrace for barbecues.

Service Care Solutions completed the works after its employee base doubled in the four years since the company moved to Starkie Street off Winckley Square.

As well as the roof terrace, employees will benefit from a dedicated break-out floor with pool table, dartboard, ping pong, table football, big screens and comfy sofas. Onsite parking is available but showers and lockers are on offer to encourage employees to run or cycle to work.

Eco-friendly solutions and a reduction in energy consumption mean the 11,500ft building is carbon positive, with the company offsetting 150 per cent of their carbon footprint.

As part of the works, the 1844 building was renamed Arthur House after Managing Director Richard Freye’s eight-year-old son.

Arthur cut the ribbon at the official opening of the premises, where staff were invited to a Buck’s Fizz breakfast.

Richard said: “The reason for the expansion was simply because we ran out of room as our team expanded. Not only this, but we wanted to create a great environment for us to work (and play) in!

“I am extremely proud to see my vision come to life, and to have my son by my side for the opening is the icing on the cake!”

Richard started Service Care Solutions in 2005 from his back bedroom with two mobile phones.

Specialising in recruiting across eight divisions including healthcare, mental health and social housing, the company employs over 85 consultants, plus specialist compliance, finance and HR teams.

With the company’s turnover now at £44 million, Richard says he anticipates headcount to grow by another 10 per cent to around 120 within the next few years.
