The old St Mary’s school building in St Mary’s Street, off New Hall Lane, could be converted into 14 flats if Preston City Council grants approval.
Developers DBR Builders have applied to the council to change the use of the building from an empty storage and distribution centre into living accommodation.
The proposed scheme will be made up of eight two-bedroom flats, one one bedroom flat, two three bedroom flats and two larger units.
There will also be parking for 16 vehicles.

A spokesman for Serviam Planning, acting on behalf of DBR Builders, said: “The plans have been carefully designed in order to make the very best use of the space within the former St Mary’s School, while respecting its historic and aesthetic value.
“Previous existing windows which have been bricked up will be reinstated and an additional internal floor is also proposed.”
