A murder investigation has been launched after a man’s death in Ribbleton.

Update: Police say a woman died, not a man

Preston Police say they were called to Pope Lane around 2am on Thursday (7 February) to reports of an altercation.

Emergency services found the body of a man at the junction with Village Road – near Ribbleton clinic.

Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene. No age has been given for the victim.

A 25-year-old man from Preston has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

Police remain at the scene and have closed part of Miller Road and Pope Lane.

Nearby residents told Blog Preston they heard the police helicopter around 3am.
