Valentine’s Champagne Afternoon Tea at Farington Lodge
Thursday 14 February, 2pm – 5pm

This Grade II listed Georgian house makes a traditionally romantic setting for a Valentine’s date. At £25 per person the afternoon tea includes strawberries dipped in chocolate and a glass of Champagne Lanson.

There are plenty of restaurant specials on around the city this Valentine’s Day, but this one is particularly heart-warming. Priced at £35 per person, all profits go to support the specialised care of St Catherine’s Hospice.

Love You to the Moon and Back – Valentine’s Day Moon-Gazing at The Harris

The Harris is hosting a free late-night opening including a special viewing of the 23-foot art installation Museum of the Moon. A pop-up bar will serve Prosecco, beer, wine and soft drinks.

As part of Love You to the Moon and Back, The Brothers of Swing will be playing rat pack classics and modern romantic favourites while fundraising for Acorns Primary School mini bus fund.

They say laughter is an aphrodisiac, so why not spend Valentine’s Day with some stand-up comedy. For £10 compere Alex Boardman will host three comedians in the vintage setting, with Preston’s Dan Nightingale headlining.

Thursday 14 February, 7pm

Hopefully love will reach new heights and not be on the ropes with this Valentine’s special. For £30 per couple the package includes one hour climbing, a drop slide experience, a large pizza to share and a drink each.

Valentine’s Sweetheart Special at MFA Bowl
Thursday 14 February, 10am – 11.30pm

Loved-up couples can try to keep their minds and balls out of the gutter with a classic game of ten-pin bowling. The Greenbank Street bowling alley is offering two games, a sharing platter and a drink for £25 per couple.

After Dark Walk at Brockholes Nature Reserve
Saturday 16 February, 4.30pm-6.45pm

This guided walk around the reserve is a chance to learn about the wildlife that comes out at night. Sturdy footwear and a torch will be needed for the walk, before a hot drink and biscuits around the campfire. Tickets are £7.

The Pigeon Detectives at Preston Guild Hall
Saturday 16 February, 7pm

The five-piece indie rock band from Leeds cite influences such as The Beatles, The Kinks and The Velvet Underground. They’ll be performing in the main room, and tickets are £20 plus booking fee.

Green Sweet Valentine at The Attic
Saturday 16 February 10pm-4am

This long-running funky house night returns to The Attic for a Valentine’s special. Wristbands are £10 plus booking fee, and the line-up includes Danny Newbold, Adam Simpson, Rob Clarke and Nick T.
