Travellers have been spotted parking up at a former car showroom site on Blackpool Road in Ribbleton.

The site used to be the Perry’s showroom before it was demolished and is now a patch of vacant land near the city’s Deepdale Retail Park.

A number of large motor homes and transit vans are parked on the scrub land.

The site is fenced off with metal barriers.

Lancashire Police have confirmed that they are aware of the travellers being parked at the site.

A spokesperson for Preston City Council said: “We are aware of a group from the travelling community who have arrived on the old Perry’s car dealership site on Blackpool road. Relevant authorities have been notified and a welfare check will be carried out shortly.” 

Travellers were last spotted setting up camp on the former car showroom site in September 2018.
