Preston Bus has said it is changing a number of services due to the snow and icy conditions.

The bus operator is not serving a number of roads on housing estates and side roads – which are unlikely to be gritted.

It follows service disruption throughout Wednesday (30 January) morning following snowfall in the city and surrounding area.

Cromwell Road in Ribbleton saw chaotic scenes as drivers attempted to get off their drives in the snowy conditions.

These are all the changes to services in Preston and South Ribble:

Service 8
Currently (Wednesday 30th January) journeys are operating as normal, however if conditions deteriorate overnight Grizedale Crescent and Pope Lane will be omitted and journeys will terminate at Ribbleton Hall Drive/Pope Lane.

Service 31
Journeys will not serve Savick Way, Ainsdale Drive, Lea Road and Thorntrees Avenue. Outbound journeys will operate via West Park Avenue, Blackpool Road to Aldfield Avenue at Lea.

In South Ribble:

Service 112
Journeys will omit Marlborough Drive

Service 114
Journeys will omit Broadgate and Spring Meadow

Preston – Skipton
Service 280
The first 2 journeys to Preston will commence from Chatburn not Barnoldswick (this is due to inadequate gritting of the bus route). A driver and bus will check the suitability of subsequent journeys later in the morning.

Preston Bus say these changes are in force now and will be reviewed at 11am on Thursday (31 January).

The Met Office has a second ice and snow warning in force for Thursday into Friday.
