It showed him making offensive comments against former Muslims who had converted to Christianity.

He released a second video apologising for his comments.

Preston City Council then confirmed Hussain drove black cabs in the city.

Preston Police confirmed to Blog Preston he remains under investigation and has been bailed until 10 March.

Preston City Council’s taxi and miscellaneous committee met last week to consider Hussain’s licence, but the taxi driver handed back his licence and will not drive a taxi until the outcome of the police investigation is complete.

Councillors will then consider an application to remove his licence permanently.

More than 2,000 people signed a petition calling for his licence to be revoked.
