A martial arts studio has a new dojo in the city.
Nippon UK Martial Arts has settled in a permanent home in Fylde Road.
The industrial unit, a former NHS health and wellbeing services offices, is now hearing the sound of sparring.
Previously based at Watery Lane the dojo was demolished to make way for the new Porsche showroom which continues to take shape.
Nippon UK moved to Preston’s College for a few months before moving into Fylde Road.
Office manager Katheryne Sharples said: “After having to leave our old dojo on Watery Lane to make way for the new Porche Showroom, we found a temporary home at Preston’s College. The staff there were fantastic but we were always on the look out for a permanent base. Now we have found it!
It’s great to be back in the heart of the city.
“Nippon UK have been providing Martial Arts Tuition to the local community for over 25 years and intend to do so for many more years to come. We feel we are really making a difference to young people’s lives, by teaching them invaluable life long skills.
“As well as our flagship dojo, we have many other classes available throughout the northwest and provide after school and breakfast clubs to local primary schools.
“Our dojo is over 5000 sq feet, with a private studio, a huge matted training area, a variety of hanging punch bags and kickboxing equipment, a seated reception area, free WiFi and a kitchen for beverages. We also have ample onsite customer parking.”
