Two men have been arrested following a spate of burglaries in Frenchwood and Avenham.

Preston Police stepped up patrols following a number of break-ins.

Residents had taken to Twitter to complain about what they said was police ‘inaction’ following the incidents.

Jamea Masjid, in Clarendon Street, had put up a chalkboard with a written warning for people to keep a close eye on their homes.

Police responded with horseback patrols and more officers in the area.

They have now confirmed two arrests on suspicion of burglary.

A 42-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday (16 January) and a 28-year-old man was arrested on Thursday (17 January) afternoon.

Both men are from Preston.
