Black Bull Lane was shut due to a fallen tree.
Preston Police closed off the main route in Fulwood as strong winds lash the city.
Reports came in around 1pm on Sunday (27 January).
The tree had fallen across the road, blocking traffic in both directions, near the Janice Drive junction.
Police put a roadblock in place from Janice Drive through to the Garstang Road crossroads at the Black Bull.
The tree was removed by around 4.30pm and the road re-opened to traffic.
Preston Bus had diverted the Number 23 service via Garstang Road.
A spokesman for the police said: “We are dealing with a large tree that has fallen down on Black Bull Lane blocking both lanes. The road is closed from Garstang Road through to Janine Drive to remove the obstruction. Please find an alternative route.”
