One lane is shut on the M6 northbound between Junction 31A and Junction 32 due to a crash.

And further up on the M55, just as you come onto the M6 at Junction 32, a second crash is causing delays.

Highways England North West said: “The M55 is blocked eastbound between J1 and the M6 at J32 due to a multi-vehicle collision.

“There is just under a mile of congestion on approach.”

The North West Ambulance Service have been called to the scene.

Lancashire Police are also on the scene.

The incidents took place around 7.45pm.

The delays are expected to clear around 9.30pm on Wednesday (16 January).
