Russell Baines who lives in Brookhouse Street in Ashton-on-Ribble was one of those who was missed.

He said: “I discovered no one on the street had their bins empited.

“I rang the council’s waste management team and discovered there wass no information at all as to why this happened as the bin men would log problems with head office.”

A spokeswoman for the city council said: “Due to the wintry weather, some waste collection crews are struggling with access to some side roads across Preston.

“Please bear with us and we will return as soon as it is safe to empty your bin.

“The advice has to be if your street was missed due to ice and snow leave the bin out and we will return to collect as soon as it is safe to do so.

“A wagon is out today attempting some of the missed refuse bins, but there’s no guarantee the access will be any better.”
