The most famous steam train in the world came whizzing through near Preston on Saturday.

Rachel Smith was in position to watch the Flying Scotsman go by.

Steaming through the line next to Brindle, Rachel said it was an ’emotional experience’.

She and her husband Paul waited in position just behind their home to see the train.

Rachel said: “We live nearby so we decided to wait to watch it pass.

“It’s not every day the most famous train the world passes your house.

“It was a little emotional. My granddad worked on Preston Station for decades and always talked about the big engines that came through.

“My grandma said he told her once they all had to stand to attention when they saw it come through – so it reminded me of him.”
