Christmas is a chance for you to relax, enjoy some family time and wonder what’s going to happen with all that rubbish that you seem to have collected over the festive period.
Preston City Council has confirmed exactly when bins will be collected this year.
Any households who have their bins collected on Tuesday 25 December 2018, Wednesday 26 December 2018 and Tuesday 1 January 2019 will be affected.

It means households that are affected should have been informed by of any collection changes on their grey bin handle and the council says it will not collect any extra rubbish sitting by your bin.
This will also appear alongside your 2019 calendar.
You can view the changes and your calendar on Preston City Council’s website.
What happens with recycling collections?
Recycling collections will not be rearranged this year for the households that are affected.
All of your recycling will be collected on the next scheduled collection.
If you have extra recycling, this can be placed next to recycling bins in untied carrier bags.
What happens with garden waste collections?
All garden waste collections will stop on Friday 14 December 2018 and will start again on Monday 7 January 2019.
Can you recycle your Christmas tree?
If you have a real Christmas tree no higher than 6ft, the council can recycle it for you.
All you need to do is chop it up and put it in your brown bin on your scheduled collection day and it will be collected free of charge.
The last garden waste collection is on Friday 14 December 2018 and will start again on Monday 7 January 2019.
If you are not subscribed to the garden waste collection service, you can still arrange a tree collection by completing the council’s online form.
This will cost £5 per tree and you can select for it to be collected on either Thursday 10 January or Thursday 17 January 2019.
You need to ensure your tree is placed outside your property at your normal collection point by 7am on the day of the collection.
There is a maximum of 20 collections per date.
