These pictures will bring back memories for anyone who ever enjoyed a Austrian-Swiss-German themed meal at Alpenhof.

Catrina King, who runs Society 1 in Cross Street, unearthed the pictures to take us back to late 1990s and early 2000s in the city.

Opened by her parents Charles and Sheila Ruppert the restaurant gained a cult following before closing in 2006.

Catrina worked behind the bar at the restaurant.

She said: “We kept a lot of the fixtures and fittings when we took on the building after it had been a number of different restaurants.

“I feel really proud and glad to have brought the building back into family use.

“We and the restaurant’s customers have many happy memories here when Alpenhof was operating.”
