Police have put an area of Plungington on lockdown as they search for two wanted men.

A section of Blackpool Road between the junction with Garstang Road and Plungington Road remains closed.

The incident began around 11am on Christmas Day (Tuesday 25 December).

Armed police units have been seen at the scene.

A number of side roads off Blackpool Road are closed off as well by police.

No re-opening times for the roads have been given.

Police have not given details on the two wanted men they are searching for.

A statement from police said: “Part of Blackpool Road close to the junction with Plungington Road is currently closed while we search for two wanted men.

“We appreciate your co-operation and support and will re-open the road as soon as we can. Apologies for the disruption and Merry Christmas.”
