Police re-open Blackpool Road after armed siege

Roads in Plungington have been reopened following a three-hour police stand-off.

Preston Police called in armed officers as they sought to trace two wanted men.

Blog Preston understands the two men were wanted in connection with a stabbing which took place in Preston during the early hours of Christmas Day morning.

Officers surrounded a house in Blackpool Road, near the junction with Jemmett Street, with a section of the main route across the city closed off from 11am until around 3pm.

A police spokesman said: “Thank you for your patience, all road closures on Blackpool Road, Preston, have now been lifted. We have been dealing with an incident where a wanted person was believed to have been located.

“We understand the disruption and concern our presence may have caused but thank you for your assistance.”
