Police hunt for man after racially aggravated assault in Bamber Bridge

Police are searching for a man after an alleged racially aggravated assault in Bamber Bridge.

Update: On Friday (7 December) police said Shiels had come forward and handed himself in

South Ribble Police say around 8pm on 20 November a man was attacked at a shop in School Lane.

Ben Shiels is wanted after a man was head-butted and punched before being racially abused, with threats made to damage the shop and harm the victim’s family.

Shiels is described as white, 6′, with short, dark-brown hair and blue eyes.

He has links to Bamber Bridge, Preston, Lostock Hall and Penwortham.

Sergeant Scott Archer said: “Shiels is wanted in connection with a serious offence.

“I would urge anyone who knows where he is not to approach him but to contact police immediately.”
