Penwortham Girls High School pupil knocked down by car

A pupil from Penwortham Girls High School was knocked down by a car yesterday (Thursday 20 December).

The school had just broken up for the Christmas break and police have said that a 14-year-old girl was walking down Cop Lane at around 2.30pm when the incident took place.

A Ford Fiesta car hit her with its wing mirror and she had to crawl to the side of the road.

Other pupils witnessed the incident and have been left distressed by what happened.

The girl’s injuries are not thought to be serious.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: “Happened at about 2.30pm yesterday but thankfully the injuries weren’t serious.”
