Plans have been submitted for 139 new homes on the site of Ribbleton Hospital.
AdvertisementHomes England bought the site earlier this year and have now applied for outline planning permission to develop it.
Full details of the scheme have not yet been finalised but the plans set aside 42 of the 139 houses as affordable housing.
It is likely to comprise a mix or two storey houses and a three storey apartment block.

The main entrance to the development will be on Miller Road with a second access from Sandy Croft.
However residents of the cul-de-sac have raised concerns about the increase in traffic in the street.
The plans would bring a new lease of life to the site which has been a magnet for vandalism in recent years.
Services were transferred from Ribbleton Hospital to The Harbour in Blackpool in March 2015.
Also occupying the site was Garth House Children’s Home, which closed in 2004 under Lancashire County Council’s drive to place more children into foster or adoptive families.
Both buildings have now been demolished with just hard standings remaining.
The planning application can be viewed on Preston City Council’s website.
