Five sets of road closures in Broughton running until summer 2019 have been announced.

Lancashire County Council is to close Garstang Road at two sections on two separate occasions.

It will also be closing part of Woodplumpton Lane and then Whittingham Lane.

They will also be closing D’urton Lane for works.

The county council says the work is needed to ‘install a culvert diversion’ in D’urton Lane as well as diverting cable services and putting in new street lighting cables.

Here’s exactly where the closures will be and for how long:

A6 Garstang Road, from the junction with B5269 Whittingham Lane for a distance of 45 metres going north.

This closure will run from Monday 7 January until Friday 8 March

A6 Garstang Road, from the junction with Whittingham Lane for a distance of 88 metres going south.

This closure will run from Monday 11 March until Friday 12 July.

Woodplumpton Lane, from the junction with Garstang Road for a distance heading west of 152 metres.

This closure will run from Saturday 25 May to Friday 31 May.

Whittingham Lane, from the junction with Garstang Road a distance of 100 metres heading east

This closure will run from Monday 17 June to Friday 5 July.

D’urton Lane, between The Grange and Warwick House.

This will be from Monday 7 January until April 2019.

Here’s what the county council has to say about the D’urton Lane works.

A spokesman said: “Works are planned to start on the 7 th  of January, implementing a closure between ‘The Grange’ and ‘Warwick House’ to enable the installation of a culvert diversion, services diversions and the installation of new street lighting cables. Additional to this will be the installation of a temporary alignment for the Guild Wheel route to provide a diversion during the wider link road works. These initial works are planned to run until April 2019. The main contract that will be tendered out is planned to follow on from these works in April running to the start of November, however please note that planned end dates can move due to issues such as weather. The link road will join D’Urton Lane via a new roundabout.

“The extents of the closure will remain the same during the main link road works. All properties east of The Grange will be required to access from the east of D’Urton Lane via Eastway throughout the duration of the closure and this includes the Persimmon Estate and Highrigg Drive. The current stopping up order will be temporarily removed during the closure. Access for properties between (and excluding) ‘The Grange’ and ‘Warwick House’ will also be from the east of D’Urton lane and access will be maintained to these properties. The Guild Wheel will be maintained as a through route for cyclists and pedestrians throughout the works. Within the first phase of the link road works, it is planned to construct a cycle chicane on the north side of the roundabout, at which point the Guild Wheel will be moved on to this alignment and away from the temporary track.

“Please note that there are several houses within the initial culvert diversion works who may be required to access from different sides from one day to the next as the culvert works progress down D’Urton Lane. Our Highways Team carrying out those works will liaise with those residents directly to keep them informed. Please note that we will endeavour to remove the closure early if it becomes possible to do so.”
