Man arrested on suspicion of Plungington Christmas Day stabbing

A man at the centre of a stabbing and then lock-down of the Plungington area of the city on Christmas Day has been arrested.

A 44-year-old man, was arrested by Preston Police on Saturday (29 December) following a manhunt.

He has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

It follows the stabbing of a 37-year-old man in Eldon Street on Christmas Day (Tuesday 25 December) morning.

The victim remains in hospital although his injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

Preston Police cordoned off a house in Blackpool Road, during the junction with Jemmett Street, during the search for the suspect and closed roads for around four hours.

Armed police officers were also called in to assist, although the 44-year-old man was not found at the address and police then launched a wanted appeal for find him.

The public and media have been thanked for sharing the appeals about the Christmas Day stabbing and attempts to trace the man.
