A key cut-through route in Fulwood is to be shut for nearly a month next year.
Lytham Road where it goes under the North West mainline is being closed.
Network Rail are undertaking waterproofing and structure works to the bridge.
The stretch of Lytham Road is to be shut from 8.30am on Monday 25 February to 5pm on Friday 22 March.
Lancashire County Council is putting a diversion in for traffic and pedestrians.
Diversion for drivers
Lytham Road – B5411 Woodplumpton Road – A5085 Blackpool Road – A6 Garsang Road – Lytham Road and vice versa.
Diversion of pedestrians
Lytham Road – Mill Lane – Cadley Causeway – Black Bull Lane – Lytham Road and vice versa.

A spokesman for the county council said: “Network Rail are due to contact residents who live nearby in the New Year about the work and provide more information.”
Cadley ward councillor Claire Craven said: “While we appreciate that the structural and waterproofing works are needed, the prolonged closure will cause disruption for residents and businesses which is why we have been out talking to local businesses.
“Diversions and increased traffic on neighbouring streets are bound to have an impact.”
