Boxing Day evening saw many residents in the Avenham and Broadgate area complain after being disturbed throughout the night.
AdvertisementLancashire Police were called to fields near Avenham Park in the early hours of Thursday 27 December following reports of loud music.
Police patrols attended and it became clear that an illegal music event was being held in a field close to Factory Lane and the Old Tram Road.
Police asked the organisers to turn down the music however the individuals failed to comply.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: “The organisers were repeatedly asked to turn the music down but sadly these requests were ignored.
“We understand the impact that an event like this can have on residents and and we worked towards a resolution as quickly and effectively as we could.”

Note: An earlier version of this story claimed said the rave took place in Avenham Park. This is incorrect. The incident took place over the Ribble into the fields off Old Tram Road and Factory Lane. Apologies for any confusion caused.
