During the festive tea and tour, guests will be guided around the house, which has been decked out for Christmas.

There will be stories of the origins of Christmas traditions and the chance to take a glimpse into what life would have been like during the festive period in years gone by.

Following the one-hour tour, an afternoon tea with seasonal specialities will be served in the tearoom.

Meanwhile children will be catered for with opportunities to meet Santa Claus by the log fire in the banqueting hall.

This event will raise funds for the Hoghton Tower Preservation Trust and be volunteer run.

Santa will chat with children in small groups, and make sure he knows what every child would like to find on Christmas morning. Each child will be given a present, and there will be time to take photos.
