As the curtains are drawn back on Christmas Day we just wanted to wish all of our readers a very Merry Christmas.

It’s been another busy and fantastic year for the Blog Preston team covering the city and we couldn’t do it without you.

Your tip-offs, your stories, your bravery and your thoughts are always welcome and ensure we have seen more than 1million unique users visit the site during 2018.  In November we were able to confirm 50 per cent of the city visit Blog Preston at least once-a-month.

As we go into 2019 and celebrate our 10th anniversary on 11 January 2019 it will be an excellent chance for us to take stock of just how much the site has grown, but also how much the city has changed too.

We feel there’s a little bit of a spring in the step of Preston and we’re proud to have supported and played a part in that.

There’s bad times and tragic times in our city, but also some wonderful and celebratory things too – we hope on Blog Preston we’re able to show all those sides.

And we hope your Christmas Day is peaceful, restful and a joyful one too.

Please spare a thought for all those who are without that kind of environment this Christmas.

As part of our 10th anniversary we will be raising money for The Foxton Centre, to ensure those who don’t have support can access it in our proud city. The Foxton themselves are celebrating their 50th year of operation.

We should also spare a thought for all those working on Christmas Day, that will include us (news doesn’t stop you know!) but also those in the health service, the emergency services and other utilities. The lights have to stay on, fires put out, patients fed and the law enforced.

2018 has seen some huge stories in the city, we’re glad to have been a part of covering them, and we wish all of our readers a very Merry Christmas and all the very best for 2019.

Ed, Luke, Olivia, Rachel, Kate, Paul, Ben and many of our other contributors too.
