Dozens of homes in Lostock Hall have woken to no water supply.
United Utilities have engineers at the scene as they work to fix a leak.
The water supply issues are affecting the Hennel Lane and Millwood Road area.
The leak was reported at 5.45am on Monday (26 November).
A statement from the water company said: “A leak on the junction of Hennel Lane and Millwood Road affecting customers in PR5, has been spotted and reported to us. Our inspector is on his way to investigate this, but we do believe this to be the cause for some of you having no water or just a trickle.
“We’re sorry for the trouble this may be causing you and we will get your taps flowing normally again as quickly as we can.”

Paul Freeman contacted Blog Preston to say they were being affected.
He said: “We have a young family so we rely on fresh water for preparing formula milk. Thankfully we kept a five litre bottle of water from May when it happened last.”
The leak was fixed around 2pm and water restored to properties.
United Utilities said it would take around two hours for water pressure to return to normal levels.
A statement from the firm said: “We’re sorry if this has affected you and thank you for your patience.
“Because there’s been some disturbance to the pipes in your area you may notice the water is a little cloudy or discoloured.”
