The land that the Guide Centre sits on will be used as the access to the planned houses and will be demolished.

A spokesperson for the Northway Guiders said: “As you may think, we were devastated by this news, the Guide Hut was built following endless fundraising by local people who had vision and dedication, and the Guide Hut has been the Centre of Guiding activities for over 40 years providing amazing opportunities and fun activities for the girls in this area.

“We have sought advice and support from the Girlguiding legal team in relation to where we stand and how we work the PCC decision in the coming months. We want to reassure you that Guiding will continue, weekly meetings will not be affected, and we are proactively looking for alternative accommodation for all Units to carry on the amazing activities Girlguiding has to offer.”
