Four men are being hunted after a man was attacked after buying a takeaway with his girlfriend in New Hall Lane.
AdvertisementPreston Police were called to Salisbury Street, in St Matthews, after four men dressed in dark clothing and with their faces covered jumped the man.
The 27-year-old man was hit in the head and arm with an iron bar, fracturing his skull.
He had been walking to a friend’s house after visiting the Charcoal Hut in New Hall Lane.
His girlfriend was unharmed in the attack which took place between 8.30pm and 10pm on Sunday (25 November).
DC Fabian Spence from Preston Police said: “The victim has been left with some serious injuries to the extent that they will require surgery.
“If think you may have witnessed this assault or you saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time, please get in touch.”

Asked whether the attack was linked to an attack reported during the early hours of Friday (25 November) off New Hall Lane, a police spokeswoman said: “At this moment in time we have no reason to suggest that the two incidents have been linked. However, we are keeping an open mind and are exploring all possibilities.”
