A man has died after a two-car crash on the M55 during Friday afternoon.
Two children, both passengers in one of the vehicles, are received treatment in hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.
Lancashire Police shut the motorway between Preston and Blackpool, from Junction 1 at Broughton to Junction 3 at Kirkham, for five hours while paramedics worked to save the man and accident investigation work took place.
He was the driver a Jaguar F-Pace R Sport car which collided with a Peugeot 308.
No age has been given for the man, who was taken to Royal Preston Hospital, but died a short time later.
Two children who were passengers were taken to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, one girl has suffered a suspected broken leg and the other received minor head injuries.
The driver of the Peugeot, a man in his 40s, was treated for minor injuries following the crash at 5.15pm on Friday (23 November).
A spokesman for the police said: “We are appealing for information and urging any witnesses to come forward.
“These are tragic circumstances and our thoughts are with the man’s family and those involved at this incredibly difficult time.
“We are working to establish exactly what happened and would ask that anyone with information that could assist our investigation, gets in contact as soon as possible.”
