A couple found guilty of allowing the death of a 19-month old toddler have been sentenced to prison terms.
Liverpool Crown Court heard the fate of Lauren Coyle, 19 and her boyfriend Reece Hitchcott, 20.
Earlier this month they were found to have caused the death of Ellie-May Minshull-Coyle.
The Lostock Hall toddler was put in an extremely unsafe sleeping position with her ankles bound and covered with a duvet.
She died on 23 March 2017.
Lancashire Police described the case as the most distressing its teams had ever dealt with.
Her death was described as ‘unnecessary and pointless’ by the prosecution.
Ellie-May’s father John Minshull said: “She was always happy and the best daughter anyone could ask for. The fact that she was taken away from us broke our hearts because she was loved and she will be missed deeply. She is always in our minds every single day”.
Updates can be seen below as Coyle and Hitchcott were sentenced.
