Long delays are forming on Blackpool Road heading out of Preston.

Traffic is queuing back towards the city into Riversway and the Docks and into Lea and Ashton.

Inspector Nigel Barraclough confirmed to Blog Preston there were four vehicles involved in the crash.

He said: “At this stage it doesn’t look as though there’s anyone seriously injured but we are monitoring the situation.”

Police are advising motorists to use alternative routes where possible.

The ambulance service is on the scene and police are awaiting recovery vehicles to take the four vehicles away.

The crash, which took place around 5.30pm, is near the Lea Gate pub and JET garage, heading westbound from the city.

One lane is likely to remain closed for some time during Wednesday (28 November).
