Car fire shuts lane on M6 at Preston

Firefighters have been called to a car on fire on the M6.

The incident took place just where the slip road joins the motorway southbound from Junction 31A.

The fire took place shortly before 7.40am on Thursday (22 November).

Flames were seen leaping from the bonnet of the car as it pulled up on the hard shoulder.

Part of one lane has been closed from Junction 31A southbound while the car is recovered.

No one was hurt in the fire.
