Messages in a bottle have been appearing around Preston throughout the weekend.
Children at St Augustine’s Catholic Primary School in Avenham have been penning their own letters for strangers to find.
Teacher Alison May had the idea to teach her pupils how to write stories.
She brought in a message in a bottle, on tea stained paper, as the Year 1 and 2 pupils have been learning about pirates.
During last week the pupils have been writing stories to put in their bottles and then leave the bottles at landmarks around the city.
Parents were asked to take their children to a number of locations and leave the messages for people to find.

Alison said: “The children found the first message in a bottle and they’ve been really taken with the idea ever since.
“I hope it has got their creative juices flowing and although only five or six-years-old they have really enjoyed the activity.
“I hope whoever finds the stories enjoys reading them!”
