Where did we find the best curry in the city?

As it’s National Curry Week we’ve taken a look at how the top Indian restaurants and takeaways rank in Preston.

TripAdvisor readers are never known for holding back but these are the 10 places given the top ratings by Preston foodies.

All of them have four-and-a-half stars or more.

This counts them down and do let us know in the comments below if you agree or disagree!

10. Delhi 8 takeaway, Ribbleton

In Gamull Lane this has a 4.5 star and is rated as 56th out of all Preston restaurants.

90 per cent of customers in 85 reviews have given them an excellent rating.

What victoriaPreston had to say: “Order from here every week. Always delivered by friendly driver and always delivered within 30-40 mins not like other places that usually take 90. Food is delicious every time we order and hot. Salad is always fresh too. Never had a bad meal yet. Best curries in Preston.”

And it’s good to see Modhu M the manager is replying to his customers too on the site.

Well-known out on the A59 this place has a strong and well-earned reputation.

It’s a dry establishment so no booze and is always very busy.

They have 325 reviews with 63 per cent as excellent and 20 per cent as very good.

Claire_Louise gave it five stars. She sauid: “Came to Bukhara with a friend who had visited many times before. By far now my favourite restaurant and worth the drive.

“The food is exquisite, never been disappointed with anything we have had and the staff make the experience a pleasure as nothing is too much trouble.

“Special thanks to the manager who makes us so welcome. Looking forward to many more visits.”

Based in Friargate the delivery service has a rapidly growing reputation for quality halal food, including a good curry.

With 41 reviews they are smashing the five-stars so far, with 98 per cent as excellent.

Adrian B said: “A nice surprise, a varied menu catering for all tastes from burgers ribs currys pastas. Staff really friendly and helpful. Only criticism is no card machine, but ATM 100 mtr down road.”

7. Sai Surbhi, Fulwood

In Garstang Road it is approaching two years since they opened and they’ll be pleased with their current ranking.

More than 200 reviews and 67 per cent rate them as excellent.

Treas82 said: “Love this, my favourite curry house ever!! Best curry I’ve ever had each time I’ve been!! The owner is lovely and the staff are very friendly and always remember you. The food is to die for, it melts in your mouth. Cannot recommend highly enough!! Forget the fancy places in town, this wipes the floor with them all!”

You need to head up the A6 a bit but with four-and-a-half stars they are performing well.

Off Garstang Road in Barton they have 64 per cent excellent rating.

Kenny C said: “We were looking for an Indian restaurant as we drove up the A6 and came across the Barton Bangla Brasserie. We arrived without a booking and received a friendly welcome. The staff were so attentive, efficient and very pleasant. The food arrived quickly and it was amazing. I cannot speak highly enough of this establishment. A company that puts customers first with a fantastic menu and amazing food. Well worth a visit. Thanks to all the team for a truly enjoyable experience.”

5. RK Sweets Dining

Nestled in Plungington Road we recently had a great experience here, and it seems many others have as well.

Now in just outside the top 30 rated restaurants in the city RK Sweets is getting a good rep with its South Indian traditional curry.

LightPacker was raving: “Came today from a recommendation from a friend and I’m glad we did.

“Once we were sat the menu was helpfully explained to us and talked through the whole process of ordering

“The food was amazing, cracking value for money and the service was excellent

“A hidden gem on plungy.”

4. Bangla Fusion

You’ve got to head down the A59 towards Tarleton for this, but out on Liverpool Old Road it’s worth the trip.

A whopping 384 reviews and 72 per cent as excellent mean this place is firmly established in the top 10.

Sabbisausage said: “We had a special occasion family meal. Delicious. I asked for something a little unusual – it was in their power so they agreed – no fuss. Fantastic service. Its why we keep going back.”

Had some troubled times recently, but they are still in the top 10 – with more than 1,000 reviews.

59 per cent think they are excellent and 21 per cent think they are very good in the Church Street establishment.

Hannahlconn name-checked some of the staff, she said: “The food was excellent and really spicy just like we wanted and the service from Omar was amazing. I will be back soon.”

2. Ali Raj

You need to head out beyond Clifton but Ali Raj seems like it’s worth the trip for many people up Blackpool Road.

Of 290 reviews it has 80 per cent excellent and four-and-a-half stars.

Mike C was loving it. He said: “I’ve been coming to Ali Raj for a while now and the service has always been exceptional. The staff here are lovely, very welcoming and always very friendly! It adds to the service when they remember you also. The last few times I’ve been in they’ve had a new flavour of Gin available and again remembering me offer me the new Gin to try. I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone. Beautiful delicious food and fast service. Thank you as always guys!”

So best curry in Preston? It’s The Silk Route on Strand Road according to TripAdvisor.

It’s top-rated with more than 500 reviews and is the ninth best restaurant overall in the city.

78 per cent of its diners had an excellent time.

Megan gave them five-stars and said: “We visit regularly and as always the food and service was brilliant! Highly recommend the honey chicken tikka masala dish as it’s delicious, as is the rest of the menu. We will be visiting again as always.”
