A super slimmer has been named Hoole’s Slimming World’s Woman of the Year 2018 after shedding 5st 4lb.

Emma Parkinson, 30, from Croston, has gone from 17st 3lbs to 11st 13lbs in just under a year.

Her new weight loss has made her drop from a size 18 to a size 12.

Emma said: “I never could have dreamt that I’d be in this position when I first began my weight loss journey. Losing weight has made such a big difference to me. My health is better, I have more energy, I’m happier and I feel more comfortable in my own skin.”

She joined Slimming World after becoming increasingly unhappy with her size.

“I started to put on weight on when I started a new relationship with my now husband Jim. The weight increased after having my little girl and whilst I was on maternity leave. I tried lots of different ways to lose weight but they usually left me feeling hungry or miserable – or both, in fact. With Slimming World it’s completely different.

“I know a lot of people worry about joining a slimming club because they don’t know what to expect. Right from the first moment I walked into my Slimming World group I felt comfortable though, and the support I’ve received has been amazing.

“What a year 2018 has been so far! I married the love of my life Jim in February and felt amazing on my wedding day! Then in May I took the bold step changing career.”

Emma’s weight loss gave her the confidence to become a Donor Carer for NHS Blood and Transplant.

She said: “This was something I had always wanted to do, but losing the weight and my new found belief in myself gave me the courage and confidence to take the plunge. I’m so glad I did as giving blood is so very important, and I absolutely love my job! I’d love for as many people as possible to experience that new found health and confidence that I have!”

Hoole’s Slimming World is run by Jo Stringfellow every Saturday at 9am at Hoole Village Hall.
