A Preston mum has spoken out after saying her daughter was followed on the way home from school.
Jojo Dickinson reported the incident to Preston Police as her 13-year-old girl was targeted in Fulwood.
Nicole, who attends Fulwood Academy, says she walked to the Plungington area with a friend before heading back up Black Bull Lane towards home.
Throughout her walk back, around 4.30pm on Wednesday (3 October), the teenager noticed a man behind her.
As she approached the crossroads with Boy’s Lane, opposite One Stop, she felt he was getting closer, as she stopped to check her phone, he stopped behind her.
Jojo, 38, said: “Nicole was terrified as he had been following her and her friend before this.
“As he got closer to her then he stopped right next to her and said ‘you’ve got a nice bum’ and he tried to touch her.”
Jojo claims the man then touched her daughter’s bottom and tried to put his arm around her waist.
Nicole shouted and the man then ran off down Boy’s Lane.
Jojo said while she reported the incident to the police she had also posted on social media.
She says a number of homeowners in Fulwood who have CCTV fitted have approached her to say they’ve noticed a man, who Jojo claims matches the description given by Nicole, in recent days around school going home time in roads such as Regent Drive and other roads heading towards Fulwood Academy in Black Bull Lane.
Jojo said: “The police have been told, but I am very concerned it sounds like we’re not the first people to report incidents and suspicions like this in Fulwood.
“There’s lots of schools, both primary and secondary, in this area and it’s concerning the police don’t seem to be acting quickly.
“Some of these residents who contacted me have CCTV and they’ve passed it to the police.
“We moved here from Holme Slack for Nicole’s schooling, so she could be closer to her friends, but I’m really worried now about her going out.”
