Winckley Square will be one of thousands of global locations to play host in the world’s largest drawing festival this October.
The Big Draw Festival, which takes place in over 25 countries each year, is described as being for “anyone who loves to draw, as well as those who think they can’t!”
Prestonians will have the chance to develop their drawing skills thanks to events being run by Pat Southern-Pearce and Ribble Urban Sketchers.

A free one-day drawing workshop will take place on Saturday 20 October. The morning session at People’s Production Lab will take place from 10am to 1pm, and will explore sketching techniques using past and present photos of Winckley Square. Between 2pm and 4pm an outdoor session will take place in Winckley Square, with a demo followed by free sketching.
On Sunday 21 October, there will be a family day of sketching in Winckley Square between 10am and 1pm, and 2pm and 4pm. Three 45-minute drawing sessions will be open for all ages, starting at 11am, 12pm and 2pm. Participants will be invited to draw directly onto big canvasses, or do smaller drawings on paper that will be used to create a large-scale colourful artwork.
