Police have released a picture of a four-year-old girl being treated in hospital after a collision in the Plungington area.

Emergency services were called when the girl was hit by a car in Henderson Street, near Eldon Primary School.

The air ambulance landed in Moor Park and she was flown to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Merseyside.

A statement from Preston Police said: “The young girl is recovering well but still being treated in hospital with a serious compound fracture of her leg.

“Officers would like to state how brave the girl is and that she’s been very lucky on this occasion.

“At this time there is no offences involved.

“Thanks to all the public who assist and colleagues from North West ambulance service who did a fantastic job.”

Blog Preston understands from a friend of the family the girl stepped out from between two parked cars.

The incident took place shortly after 5pm on Friday (19 October).
