Fulwood Leisure Centre’s small swimming pool has been closed until mid-December.
Major renovation work on the changing rooms at the leisure centre in Black Bull Lane mean only temporary adult changing rooms are available.
Better Leisure, operated by Greenwich Leisure Limited, say the £210,000 investment in new changing facilities follows a spend of more than £700,000 on upgrades to the gym, studios and new health and fitness changing rooms.
Due to ‘safeguarding concerns’ the teaching pool has been shut as there is nowhere for young children to be changed.

Here’s what’s happening and when:
The health and fitness changing rooms will reopen during the week beginning Monday 8 October.
Temporary changing rooms have been set up in the meeting room for women and temporary rooms for men in the squash court changing rooms.
The main changing village is remaining shut until mid to late December.
The sauna and steam room are closed until the work is complete, as is the viewing gallery for the teaching pool.
The teaching pool is due to remain open for swimming lessons and school visits during the refurbishment work.

A spokesman for GLL said: “The £210k refurbishment of the swimming pool changing room, toilets and sauna/steam areas at Fulwood includes new flooring, lights, vanity areas, cubicles, showers and toilets.
“Works will start this month and complete in late December.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused during these works. Temporary changing facilities have been put in to ensure swimming has been maintained – including for Better Swim School. There are some changes to public swimming and the new timetable can be found on our website.
“Prepaid members have access to West View Leisure Centre for free during the works.
“The £1.5m upgrades at Fulwood and West View Leisure Centres will ensure customers have a better experience when they visit and allow us to welcome many more local residents through the doors.”
Better Leisure is advising customers to check the timetables online or call the leisure centre on 01772428930 before visiting.
