A flooding alert has been issued for the River Ribble in Preston and Penwortham.
Storm Callum is set to bring continuous rainfall to the area during Friday night (12 October) and throughout Saturday (13 October) and it is already affecting the upper and lower River Ribble.
Prestonian’s are being warned that properties and low lying areas could be affected.

Environment Agency Officers are currently checking defences and watercourse, and will be closely monitoring the situation.
Lancashire County Council have advised flood alerts have been issued by the Environment Agency and are giving people advice on the situation.

It is being encouraged that people keep up to date with the situation by listening to local radio and checking online.
There’s also a flood alert issued for the rivers Yarrow and Lostock in Bamber Bridge in Leyland

People should avoid riverbanks and be prepared for flooding overnight or during Saturday morning.
