A Fulwood care home has been rated as ‘good’ in all areas following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission.
Meadowfield House Home for Older People, based at Meadowfield, has been recognised for the safety of the service, its effective and caring staff, care workers being responsive to residents’ needs and good leadership from the home’s management.
Run by Lancashire County Council, the home was rated as ‘requires improvement’ at its previous inspection in March 2017.

County Councillor Graham Gooch, cabinet member for adult and community services, said: “This is a fantastic achievement. CQC inspections are rightly very tough and the good rating will give people who use the service and their families confidence they are getting great care at Meadowfield.
“Not only does the centre provide residential care, but supports people to develop the skills and confidence they need to live independently again after a stay in hospital. The fact that the home has moved from requires improvement to good reflects the hard work and efforts staff are putting in here. Congratulations to everyone at Meadowfield.”

Head of Lancashire County Council’s older people’s service, Chris Bagshaw, said: “I’m really proud of what the team at Meadowfield has achieved. Meadowfield is much more than a service, it’s people’s home and an important part of the care system, so it’s vital that we provide high standards of care and support here.
“I was particularly pleased to read that residents thought our staff were welcoming and well-mannered, that relatives felt their loved-ones were safe and being well looked-after and that people felt staff always helped them address any issues.
“People also praised the meals and catering. Well done to all the staff at Meadowfield for their hard work.”
